Promises we hold ourselves to
If we ever ship a feature that violates one of these promises, anyone — staff, member, or stranger — can file a charter violation report and we publish the response within 30 days. No exceptions.
These are the day-to-day enforcements of the Founding Charter — the constitutional layer underneath the platform.
Each promise is tagged Live (the controls exist today) or Building (we've committed to it; the controls aren't shipped yet). Article VIII of the Founding Charter forbids us from pretending otherwise.
- No infinite-scroll dopamine traps without an off switchBuilding
Every feed will expose a 'pause feed' control and a daily limit you can set yourself. We never hide it.
Building toward this: Per-feed pause toggle and daily-limit setting are not yet shipped. Push-notification quiet hours are live.
- No streak-shamingLive
Streaks reward presence, never punish absence. We won't bombard you with 'You broke your 47-day streak' notifications.
- No fake urgency or fake scarcityLive
Countdown timers must reflect a real deadline. Limited-edition items must be limited. No 'Only 1 left!' lies.
- No autoplay outrageLive
Posts about crisis, harm or politics never autoplay sound. They open with a content warning and require an explicit tap.
- Money flows you controlLive
We don't dark-pattern subscriptions. One-tap cancel, prorated refunds, no email gauntlet. Earn-Layer payouts go out within 7 days.
- Transparency by defaultBuilding
Algorithmic feeds will disclose why each item was ranked for you. You'll be able to fork any feed into a chronological view in one tap.
Building toward this: Per-item ranking disclosure and chronological toggle are not yet shipped on every feed.
